I love travel but hate transit. I missed two out of three of my flights due to the delay of the first flight. After I arrived to Madrid late, the handle to my tank of a suitcase promptly broke. I trekked a good 3 miles from subway to subway, up a few city blocks, only to arrive at the location indicated in my packet to find nadie (nobody). I go from sweaty from the trek to shivering from the windy winter Madrid evening. I eventually find a payphone that costs 2 Euros ($2.60) per call. I end up spending 16 Euros before I finally get a hold of someone. Aparently I was supposed to go to some random hotel allegedly sent to me in an e-mail. Of course, the cab driver has no idea where it is, so I get dropped off a mile away going from store to store getting directions. I eventually met up with my program whereupon we went out for delicious tapas. The next morning we left on a public bus 6 hours south to Granada, home to many amazing Arabic castles, as Granada was the last stronghold of the Moors before the Christians took over Spain. Here in Granada, we will spend the next three weeks in an intensive Spanish language program. Stay tuned for exciting posts. I'll have to figure out how to post PG-13 rated posts in a private area for VIP viewers only.

By the way, the picture to the left is from the bus ride to Granada. The hills are covered in olive trees.

Wow. One day in Spain and look what ruckus you've created. Sounds like a pretty intense journey meeting up with your group but I'm sure it'll all be worth it. Keep posting pictures and stay warm. I hope the scarf you left at my house isn't your only one...tsk tsk.

Ohhhhh Majeed! What an adventure already. Although i'm wondering how much of that really happened considering that last story you told me about your trip to Holland, seemed to be exaggerated!!!..Any way, party it up there and remember to do as the Spaniards do!

It is great even if it is only in your own mind. That is half the fun...
